PLACES
There
was a time when a whole people could devote their lives, their children
and the children's children to lift a monument to their religion. During the Middle Ages, hundreds of cathedrals were built throughout Europe. Then, the man did everything faster, more basic and therefore less beautiful. But
a genius of art had a vision that would bring back this emotional habit
of building something so wonderful that even in modernity has over 100
years and is not yet completed: Temple of the Sagrada Familia in
Barcelona.
The Church of the Holy Family is a Catholic basilica in Barcelona (Spain), designed by the architect Antoni Gaudi. Initiated in 1882, still under construction (January 2013). It is the masterpiece of Gaudi, and the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture. According to data from 2011, is the most visited monument in Spain, with 3.2 million visitors.
Construction began in the Gothic style, but, assuming the project Gaudí in 1883, was completely redesigned. According to his usual procedure, general sketches from improvised building construction as it progressed. Gaudí took over the project with only 31, and he devoted the rest of his life, the last fifteen exclusively. One
of their most innovative ideas was the design of the high towers
protruding circular conical pointed about portals, and become narrower
with height. The
projected dish with a twist, which gives an upward trend throughout the
façade, favored by many windows that pierce the tower following spiral
shapes.
The
temple, when completed, will have 18 towers, four in each of the three
facades and domes mode, you have a system of six towers, with the
central dome-tower dedicated to Jesus 170 meters high , four around this, dedicated to the evangelists, and a second dome dedicated to the Virgin. Both the exterior and interior are solved with a unique construction system based on formal geometry.
In 1926, the death of Gaudí, only had built a tower. Building
project plans and retained only a model in plaster that was badly
damaged during the war Civil.3 However, since then have continued
without interruption works at present is finished portals Birth and
Passion, and has started the Gloria, has covered the entire interior space, and laid the foundations of the six central towers.
